In our Coding Chemistry: Creating the Right Reactions series, we will explore how we can combine the elements from coding to report the best quality outcomes for our clinic. We will review UDS/clinical quality measurement requirements and study the components that make a big reaction to move our quality needle! Coders are an often-underutilized part of the quality team and we will have them bubbling to the surface to shine by the end of our time together. Attendance for this series will be important for coders, billers, and any other FQHC team members that are engaged in a quality improvement program.

Measurement Criteria – 10 minutes
- Understand numerator and denominator requirements
- Understand exclusion requirements for measure
- Explain commonly missed elements in measurement
CPT/ICD-10-CM coding – 25 minutes
- Understand which visits qualify to be counted under this measure
- Understand which diagnosis codes are needed for this measure
- Review specificity requirements related to diagnosis coding as related to VSAC tables and CMS requirements
- Review coding guidelines as related to eCQM elements
- Review SNOMED codes and their use for this measurement
Testing your data – 10 minutes
- Review sample production data
- Compare production data to measurement elements to identify areas for improvement within clinic/by provider
