Tough Topics in the FQHC: Communicating Effectively with Clinicians

Do you struggle to convey your questions to clinicians in a way that leaves both of you pleased with the outcome? In this session, we’ll discuss communication strategies that acknowledge the respective knowledge of both the coder and the clinician. We’ll share insights regarding perspectives and frustrations drawn from conversations with clinicians and coders. We will consider the day of a busy clinician and the impact workflows have on quality documentation and reporting, as well as the impact of inaccurate coding tools, and how we as coders can help.
