Despite the absence of Chapter-specific guidelines for digestive disorders, reporting these disorders can be confusing. A single code can often capture the disorder itself plus a variety of symptoms and manifestations. Many codes require additional reporting of alcohol and tobacco dependence, when present. Risk-adjustment opportunity abounds in this chapter. A handful of code additions for 2022 will be reviewed as well.
